Kerbside Collections

The contents of wheeled bins are collected every Friday morning soon after 6.30am. Green bin and black bin collections alternate so that each is emptied once a fortnight.

Green bins are for compostable garden and similar waste. This may include clippings and prunings (although trunks and larger branches should be taken to a household waste site), grass cuttings, weeds, leaves, and non-coated cardboard such as food and grocery packets and toilet rolls. Soil, turf, animal bedding and vegetable peelings are not acceptable. All items must be loose INSIDE the bin, NOT in plastic bags, and the wheeled bin lid must be shut.

Black bins are for rubbish that can't currently be recycled or composted. This will include food waste, plastic bags and packaging, and coated cardboard such as milk/juice cartons. Rubbish must be INSIDE the bin.

Blue boxes are provided for glass, tins and drinks cans. These need not be segregated. Green boxes are provided for recyclable paper. Collections from both Blue and Green boxes takes place on the same day as the wheeled bin collections every week, but later in the day, usually in the early afternoon. There is no kerbside collection of recyclable plastic, but plastic bottles can be taken to a recycling point.

Put the objects INSIDE the containers provided.

Household Waste Site

The nearest household waste site to Mowsley is at Kibworth Beauchamp, on the A6 south of the village.
